In 1950, Karl Leysieffer created the first "heavenly" chocolate truffles.
However, the chocolate truffles only received their now nationally known name in 1972 from a priest in Osnabrück.
He repeatedly remarked on how "heavenly" the melt-in-your-mouth filling tasted in combination with the milk chocolate coating and crisp sugar crust.
And so, the priest's word was the proverbial divine inspiration to christen the chocolate truffles "The Heavenly Ones."
